THE PEOPLE BEHIND EMODI
Emodi’s designs combine craftsmanship and a love of materials with a graphic designer’s eye for aesthetics. Since leaving her career as a graphic designer, Egle Ramanauske now works full time on her dream, owning her own design workshop with her husband Ignas. While Egle designs and creates the ideas behind their collections, Ignas hand-crafts the furniture in their London-based workshop.
“Emodi was born from my passion for art and interiors and a big wish to have my own business,” says Egle. “With the support and enthusiasm of my husband Ignas, together we create unique furniture and decorative homewares.”
Egle’s graphic design background can be seen in the precision of her designs and the minimalist patterns of the furniture and fabric collections. Merging timeless elegance with mid-century modernism, Emodi’s woodworked pieces and printed cushions are streamlined in shape and simple in pattern and colour. Central to every design in their furniture collections are the materials they use.
” I love the idea of bringing art into the interior, not only as a painting you could hang, but something more functional. For our latest cushion collection, all my drawings are printed on a natural fabric so you can’t find the same cushion design anywhere else.” – Egle
